I’ve been on a quiet hiatus since the degree show, still finding myself here in London — moving through tunnels and shadows, in and out of the Underground each day.

The days stretch longer as the light fades earlier, the city not yet dressed in its Christmas glow.

But there are small mercies: moments of joy when dogs wander into the shop where I work. Lately, Battersea seems to belong to the sausage dog.
