Between the noise of daily routine and the illusion of 'balance', there's little space left to truly process the forces shaping our lives — political currents, financial systems, the silent architecture of control.
That space only opens up late at night. In the shower.
When the water runs and the world briefly dissolves, thought begins to surface — tangled, but uninterrupted. That’s where this work begins.
Built from linocuts of Clapham Junction’s new developments, this piece is a layered investigation: fragments of sketches, collaged impressions of shifting streetscapes — low-density housing replaced by vertical sprawl; independent businesses slowly edged out by sterile chains.
The shower becomes a kind of studio — a private commons — where thought stretches out, breathes, begins to make sense.
The imagery fractures like memory: pieces of urban texture, high-rise windows, patterns echoing faceless repetition. The print is both an enquiry and a mapping — of place, of change, of personal reckoning.
